FDA approves new drug to treat type 2 diabetes and high cholesterol in one tablet today!

The new drug is called: Juvisync (sitagliptin and simvastatin) and is the first of its kind to treat both high cholesterol and Type II Diabetes in one tablet.

  1. I just saw this same article on twitter stating that the FDA approved Juvisync. I was going to blog about it also, but I saw that you beat me to it. I believe that this is a great idea and it will improve compliance for patients that have high cholesterol and type II diabetes. Instead of taking two separate pills they can take the one combination tablet and cut down on their daily medications. This will probably help adherence and improve their health. The downside will be its cost because it is a new medication and no generic will be available yet, so it will be expensive for the patient. I look forward to hearing good things about this medication and hope that it will help many people that have to deal with having high cholesterol and type II diabetes.
